As Savvy said in her comment, White privilege is not about your financial standing. I won’t go into extreme detail here, mainly because there are numerous articles and studies (both Medium and non) that explain this very topic. It’s the benefit of going into a store and not being followed around because they think you’ll steal. It’s the benefit of stating your opinion on a subject matter in a college class without the burden of somehow representing your whole race because there’s only one other person of color in the class. It’s the benefit of people not feeling the need to grab/touch your hair (aka blatantly invade your personal space) because of how “exotic and different” it looks. When people ask you “where you’re from”, they’re actually asking about geographic location and not trying to figure out your ethnicity. People don’t question what your “real name” is because the name you gave isn’t stereotypically ethnic enough.
Those are a few examples of micro-aggression.
If you’re living and breathing, you’re going to face struggle no matter what color you are. White privilege does not suggest that White people do not undergo struggle, it means that it will hardly — if ever — be a struggle that comes about solely for being a White person.
