Thanks for sharing this story; I can't say that I've had the same issues with my family so I've always been curious as to how this dynamic works in families with very different view points. I can't imagine what it would be like to have to deal with this with my family; I'm so glad that you chose to stand up for yourself even when it was difficult.

The closest to this I've probably experienced is the rising number of Black men who are in support of Trump and his administration. It's baffling and heartbreaking when people believe that a candidate's overall integrity doesn't play a factor, that them being severely underqualified doesn't play a factor, and are willing to go against their own interests because of one or two things that can financially benefit them.
