Hey Jan; As someone who consumes content centered around race, as well as content centered around true crime I believe it's two things: 1) Gabby is a White woman. And, historically, when a White girl or woman goes missing it tends to get A LOT of media attention. More so than a person of color. And 2) True Crime has been a very popular topic over the past few years, to the point where there are several podcasts and Youtube channels dedicated to the subject. For most people following this story, they're basically seeing missing person (possibly murder) case unfold in real time which I'm sure folks are marveled by.

Don't get me wrong; Gabby's case is still very upsetting and her fiance needs to be brought to justice, but that's just some insight as to why this has been such a huge story.
