I always found it interesting how one person with similar features as me can have a vastly different life experience. I know in my case (a Black woman) sometimes it can be as simple as environment or location.

As you said, obesity is more commonplace in the U.S., and we also have been churning out more body positive movements that protect women from this type of scrutiny. Of course, I have still witnessed slander against fat women in the U.S., but I think the hatred could be to a lesser extent in comparison to other countries where fatness/obesity isn’t as commonplace.
