I feel like celebrity culture in the U.S. is so intense that, as you said, people put up this wall of separation to the point where they won't treat said celebrity (and their loved ones) as people. They say things that they know they wouldn't say to a stranger usually, but because they're talking to a celeb and/or their family, it somehow makes it okay? It just creates these inappropriate interactions and discomfort for the loved ones. And, honestly, it's just a very entitled way to act.
I can't imagine what kind of impact this could make; either being constantly reminded of them, or constantly having your identity pushed to the side in order for strangers to satisfy their need to see you in a certain light.
