I find that the adultification of girls is still as big of a problem now as it was when I was a kid. And it goes right along this false idea that "girls are harder to raise than boys". In actuality, people find girls harder to raise because a lot of them aren't actually "raising" their boys. Responsibility and empathy are themes and lessons that are heavily engrained in girls but, until recently, we weren't doing the same for boys. Previous generations of boys have been raised with the idea of "manning up" and that being emotional is a feminine trait and, as a result, it left us with a lot of emotionally unavailable or emotionally underdeveloped men.
As you said, this idea of girls maturing faster than boys is harmful for both parties. Thanks so much for sharing, Taylor!
