I found this entire situation bizarre, but thanks to Dolezol I didn't find it at all surprising.

"very harmful belief touches on this same issue of a person of great privilege believing that she has not commited any wrong simply because of her own perspective or opinion" < This right here is it.

Too many times in the conversations of racism, implicit bias, etc. is this idea that a White person doesn't have to be "wrong" because they're only voicing "an opinion". Whenver you come at someone with hard to swallow pills and facts, the go-to is always something along the lines "well we can agree to disagree" or "it looks like we just have a difference in opinion". No, sis. You're just wrong. I can say my 'opinion' that 2 +2 = 7 but it doesn't change the fact that the sum is actually 4. 'Opinions' are for light topics, not racial identity and how it effects everyday life. What's funny is that people who think this way don't even realize it's a privilege in itself to just fall back on the idea of 'opinion'.

Thanks for sharing!
