I get so tired of hearing people push the “monetary gain” argument against women who step forward about their experience with rape or sexual assault.

But your final paragraph really hits the nail on the head: we need to take the concept of accountability seriously. We have to — at the very least — strive for a society that will hold each and every citizen accountable for their actions regardless of their power or status.
