\I haven’t been in the working world for that long, but one thing that did jump out at me from the very beginning is that [White] co-workers take offense when you’re not willing to join in the after work fun. I didn’t know how to describe it during my first couple jobs, but this story basically hits the nail on the head. It had me second guessing myself: am I supposed to partake in all this after-work stuff? What about my side hustle? What about my writing? And my friends? Can I only go up if I rub shoulders with people I kinda-sorta-don’t want to be around?

Of course, I stopped caring about that stuff during the early years. If I’m coming in on time, getting my work done, not half-assing anything, then I have every right to head out and go on about my life.

Thanks so much for sharing!
