I think this, along with the myth of ‘the one’, is unfortunately how many women find themselves trapped in these types of relationships. When we invest a lot of time into something (including a relationship) we try our best to make it work because we don’t want it to be “a waste”.

It’s unfortunate that we cling on to fantasy so much that we lose our grip on what is actually going on. I’m glad you were able to meet your husband — a real man — and that you’re working through the trauma that guy brought upon you.
