My biggest gripe with 'jumping on a quick call' is that, in my experience, it's mostly done as a lack of accountability. When higher ups ask something of me and it turns out I did something "incorrectly" or got the "wrong" info, it's much easier to make this case if they make their request via a call than an email? You know how I know? Because when they come back with the BS I come back with the receipts that are the emails showing that I did everything asked of me. It's so irritating.
