My jaw was on the floor when I listened to your story on the podcast. But I feel like this line right here really sums up my feelings over the whole thing.

I understand the reasoning behind 'women's intuition' and 'trust your gut', but I also feel like it's become a way to further the blame on the victim.

'How did you not see that coming?' 'Didn't he seem off to you?' And the like. Since when did it become our job to be private investigators and police? We really can only go with what we're presented with and the fact of the matter is, it's relatively easy for someone to pass themselves off as 'normal'. We have an image in our minds about what a criminal (in this case a mass shooter) looks like. We expect to see some grungy looking guy with shifty eyes and off putting social habits and it just doesn't work that way. What's typically the first thing people say in those articles following a massacre? It's usually a quote from a family member or acquaintance talking about how they never would have guessed that this person could do such a thing.

Thanks so much for sharing this!
