Thank you so much for sharing this.

I've read in a previous piece that Black women are not allowed to be introverts in the work-place. But even more, it seems like we're not allowed to do anything that our White colleagues view to be inappropriate. If we're quiet and do our job, we're "not team players". If we lean in, make our voices heard, then we're "intimidating and aggressive". If we dare to laugh and joke and be extroverted and sassy, undoubtedly there will be someone complaining about how we're "unprofessional and disruptive". It often times feels like a lose-lose situation.

I also work at a law firm and if I'm being honest, getting the opportunity to work from home has been so nice. I like not having to worry about how I speak, how I look, etc. as most of my communication is through email. It's upsetting that the only way I could feel at ease at work is by not being physically present. Even so, I don't want other Black women to be discouraged from pursuing what they deserve. It's terribly unfair, but I'd rather leave and pursue those career advances elsewhere than to continue being seen as a threat or disruption.

Thanks so much for sharing!
