The issue I have with those aspects of the FIRE movement is that it seems to suggest that someone can “save” their way into financial independence (or peace, or freedom, whichever you’d like to say). Don’t get me wrong, saving and practicing smart spending habits is still very important. However, I feel that it should be more on the focus of developing more than one income and producing residual income. I caught myself explaining to a friend that there’s no ‘retirement age’ necessarily; it’s based on income.

I also agree that work, whether it be for passive or active income, is still a part of life. And things can be a lot better if we are finding fulfillment in the work we do. Even those who find fulfillment in what they do don’t necessarily have the desire to do that line of work for the rest of their lives, which is all the more reason to find ways in which you can get through it as quickly as possible.
