As Anna mentioned in her comment, this is definitely a delicate situation in which I feel we have a hard time balancing "being real" and "scare tactics". What's interesting, and what probably plays into Willow's reaction to her grandmother's story, is that I've been able to meet women who claimed they didn't experience pain their first time. I found this pretty shocking because I always viewed it to be a bonafied fact that intercourse is unpleasant the first time no matter what you do. So I guess a big question here is, yes sex hurts the first time but does it have to?

Either way, I think it's definitely our responsibility to let young girls know what they should expect when that time comes. I've read too many horror stories of first-time experiences going wrong and it's mainly because either one or both parties didn't have realistic expectations of how it will go down.
