I find it interesting that you refer to Medium as a blog site; either you’re right in the sense that blogs have changed over the years or I really just have a narrow sense of what counts as a blog haha

A lot of these things are spot on. I’ve only been on the site for a few months, and everything was just so shiny and new to me. Even though I knew to join the Partner Program meant getting paid, I wasn’t really trying to set my expectations too high. So the first month when I only made $12 I was pretty hype over it. I definitely think that, while not getting approved in a publication isn’t the end of the world, I do appreciate the aspect of having my writing critiqued and seeing improvements.

I guess I have a bit of a competitive spirit because I find myself wanting to keep getting better so I can get curated, reach more people, etc despite not really caring if I can ‘make it big’ (aka make a crap ton of money).
