Very interesting read, Maggie!

While there are definitely guys out there who appreciate women who are at their ambition level (or above it), there are also guys like this one quoted. Rather than being interested in building together, they’re more interested in being a knight in shining armor and taking care of someone whose purpose is really just to cheer them on. And — not to assume that this person had this type of malicious intent — but there are also guys who understand that you would have the means to leave them because you are not financially/skillfully/intellectually dependent on them. For some guys, that’s “scary”.

One of the things my fiance liked about me is that “I want him but don’t need him”. Once you find someone like that, you can tell that you’re on the same wavelength when it comes to ambition.
