While I understand it happened some time ago, I’m deeply sorry for your loss.
Our society seems to be veering towards the idea of vulnerability, especially among men, but I find myself still surrounded by men who don’t believe they can truly be vulnerable, emotional, etc. Even small things that I don’t think people even pay attention to like “Be a big boy, don’t cry” or “Don’t hang out with your sisters, come with us and do this instead” have a strong lasting impact on young boys.
It’s crazy, I was looking at a reddit thread that asked straight men times their sexuality or masculinity has been questioned over the most minuscule things (such as using an umbrella, having a clean apartment, etc). I hope that we can continue this shift into the idea of vulnerability, and teaching young boys that being attuned to their emotions is extremely necessary for them to have healthy relationships.
Thanks for sharing!
